About The Rainbow Room

The Rainbow Room is a Community Partners of Lubbock program and is 100% community funded. Prior to the creation of the Rainbow Room, Child Protective Services (CPS) caseworkers relied on their own personal resources or spent hours of precious time searching for items to meet the needs of the children they served.

Sensing the need to develop a resource for the rising number of children being placed in the foster care system under emergency situations, the Rainbow Room was established in April of 1998 by the Junior League of Lubbock.

Ways To Give
Operation Baby Watch
Operation Baby Watch is a volunteer program that provides hospitalized children in CPS care with a caring adult sitter. The program allows CPS staff to continue completing needed casework activities. Shifts are usually completed in 2 to 3 hour shifts.*
Shopper/?Helper
Volunteers are used to shop weekly for Rainbow Room items using our Walmart gift card. Volunteers can also help organize the room, change out clothing, organize donations, tidy shelves, etc.
Life Books
A Life Book is more than a photo album. It is a record of a child's life journey. Volunteers are put in contact with a caseworker who matches them with a child in foster care. The volunteer receives and compiles information and pictures and creates the Life Book.*
Needs
The Rainbow Room's needs change throughout the year. Please see our Wish List for on-going items, or contact us for immediate needs.
Financial Support
In addition to volunteering, Community Partners of Lubbock relies on financial donations from the community. All donations are tax-deductible. Checks can be made to Community Partners of Lubbock, 1103 MLK Blvd., Lubbock, TX 79403.
